Office Manager

Full-time

We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Office Manager to join our growing team in Castelldefels (Barcelona). This mid-senior level position is ideal for someone who is people and process-oriented, with a strong sense of ownership and attention to detail. You will report directly to the CEO and play a key role in maintaining a productive, welcoming, and well-structured office environment.

In addition to overseeing daily operations and providing employee support, you will manage essential financial and operational tasks, including vendor management, purchase orders, and bookkeeping support. The ideal candidate will have a start-up or scale-up mindset, be comfortable with change, be hands-on, and be able to adapt quickly in a fast-moving, evolving environment. Your contribution will help shape the way we grow and operate.

Key Responsibilities

Office Operations & Facilities Management

  • Oversee all aspects of office space and infrastructure planning, including CRUD for workstations, to support seamless workflows.
  • Ensure the office is well-stocked with essential supplies and manage inventory (e.g., coffee, water, fruit, snacks).
  • Handle all correspondence, including post and deliveries.
  • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and facilities regulations, acting as a liaison with building management and service contacts.
  • Act as the first point of contact for visitors, providing a warm and professional welcome.
  • Manage meeting room bookings and provide support for internal events and gatherings.

Financial & Operational Processes

  • Process purchase orders (POs) through the internal system in coordination with the technical team.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with vendors and suppliers to ensure cost-effective and reliable service delivery.
  • Manage accounts payable and receivable, process payments, and track transactions.
  • Maintain accurate invoice records and support bookkeeping activities
  • Assist with shipping, logistics, and customs-related processes.
  • Develop and implement procedures to improve and streamline operational workflows.

Employee & Event Support

  • Ensure a comfortable, functional, and inspiring workplace for all employees.
  • Work with HR to organise office events, team-building activities, and company-wide initiatives.
  • Support onboarding by coordinating resources and workspace setup for new hires.

Executive Assistance

  • Provide direct support to the Management, including calendar management, meeting scheduling, travel coordination, and assistance with strategic initiatives.

Other Ad-Hoc Responsibilities

  • Participate in cross-functional projects aimed at improving internal processes and operational efficiency.
  • Support the implementation and rollout of new systems and tools across the office.
  • Collaborate with the IT Administrator and HR Manager on initiatives that enhance employee experience, workflow, and infrastructure.
  • Take ownership of special assignments as needed, contributing to the continuous improvement of office operations.

About you

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of four years’ experience in office or operations management roles.
  • Fluent in English and Spanish (written and verbal).
  • Solid understanding of basic accounting principles and financial procedures.
  • Strong organisational, time management, and interpersonal skills.
  • Comfortable multitasking and adapting to shifting priorities.
  • Proficient in office software (e.g. spreadsheets, document management) and comfortable learning new platforms.
  • Experience with developing and maintaining internal systems and procedures.
  • Able to handle confidential information with discretion and professionalism.

System Engineer (Imaging & Sensing)

You will work closely with product and application teams, playing a crucial role in developing successful prototypes and demonstrators. Your expertise in designing, developing, and testing camera systems will be essential to advancing our technology and its application in various industries.

How a day might look like

  • Lead the definition and development of camera system architectures, considering optics, electronics, firmware, and software integration.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with internal teams and external partners to develop and optimise imaging systems.
  • Conduct rigorous system-level testing, debugging, and validation to ensure optimal imaging system performance.
  • Develop and maintain detailed technical documentation and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Provide technical leadership, expertise and support during customer engagements, demonstrations, and industry events.
  • Drive continuous improvement of imaging systems based on internal evaluations, customer feedback, and market requirements.

About you

  • MSc or PhD in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Optics, or a related technical field.
  • At least 3 years of relevant experience in imaging systems engineering, including camera calibration, ISP pipelines, computational photography, or optical simulation.
  • Proven expertise in hardware/software integration, prototyping, and validation.
  • Strong programming skills in Python, C/C++, and familiarity with image processing libraries (e.g., OpenCV, MATLAB).
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment independently.
  • Proficient in written and verbal skills in English.

Project Manager (Grants)

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager (Grants) to join our Barcelona team and work together towards building innovative R&D projects to maintain and expand qurv’s technological competitive advantages.

You will be the focal point for our partners and funding bodies while dealing with all required project administration activities. You will work closely with the Management, R&D, Legal, and Finance teams to establish and support the entire life cycle of existing and future development opportunities.

How a day might look like

  • Research relevant EU and national funding opportunities (e.g., Horizon Europe, Digital Europe, EIC, national innovation grants).
  • Help prepare draft content for grant submissions (non-technical sections, formatting, supporting documents).
  • Maintain a funding calendar, ensure deadlines are tracked, and follow up on required submissions.
  • Follow the project plan, including project objectives, tasks, and timeline.
  • Financial control (eligibility and availability) of expenses (personnel, consumables, equipment, and other direct costs) charged to each project/grant and all administrative follow-up of the project (changes in the duration, changes in budgets, etc.).
  • Regularly monitor and report on project progress to stakeholders, making any necessary adjustments to the project plan to ensure its success.
  • Ensure the project adheres to all relevant regulations and guidelines, particularly those related to EU or national projects (H2020, EIC, CDTI, etc).

About you

  • MSc/PhD with a STEM background is highly desirable.
  • At least 2 years of experience in project management, experience in managing large scientific projects is desirable.
  • High expertise in European, National, Regional, and International competitive funds, both in the proposal preparation phase and in the management and reporting of granted projects.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, including relationship management, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills.
  • Eagerness to learn and develop yourself in a fast-paced international environment.

Quantum Dot Synthesis and Ink Formulation Process Engineer

We are looking for a world-class Quantum Dot Synthesis and Ink Formulation Process Engineer to join our Barcelona team and work together to push the limits of our wide-spectrum image sensor technology. You will be working closely together with process, integration and device functions to invent and provide cutting-edge colloidal quantum dot materials that will play a significant role in shaping the company’s future technologies

How a day might look like

  • Design experimental strategies and perform lab work including synthesis of colloidal quantum dots and formulation of inks for optoelectronic applications.
  • Collaborate with the R&D team to produce samples and optimise colloidal quantum dots and ink formulations for optoelectronic devices.
  • Develop metrology procedures and correlate end-of-line data to process parameters.
  • Develop/improve quality control methodology for incoming and outgoing materials.
  • Gather specifications from internal customers to deliver high-quality products and prototypes.
  • Report results to cross-functional teams for feedback and further requirements definition.
  • Work as needed with teams in design, process, equipment support, testing, and failure analysis to fully understand device performance and potential failure modes.
  • Contribute towards transfer to waferscale processes and process troubleshooting.
  • Drive to improve yield, streamline processes, and decrease cycle times.
  • Work together with suppliers and industrial/academic collaborators on innovative processes and raw materials.
  • Acquire and start-up synthesis equipment.
  • Contribute to innovation and write invention disclosures.

About you

  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in colloidal quantum dot synthesis, ligand exchange processes and ink formulation for optoelectronic device applications.
  • Experience in designing, formulating, manufacturing, and testing nanoparticle-based inks and coatings for optoelectronic device applications.
  • Experience with absorption spectroscopy, FTIR, TEM, UPS, XPS and other relevant metrology techniques for colloidal quantum dots.
  • Experience in managing internal/external vendors.
  • Demonstrated history of innovation, problem-solving and failure analysis.
  • Experience in equipment acquisition.
  • Working knowledge of R&D to high-volume manufacturing process transfer and statistical process control (SPC) is a plus.
  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. or equivalent, in chemistry or materials science.

Litho and Etch Process Engineer

We are looking for a world-class Litho and Etch Process Engineer to join our Barcelona team and work together to push the limits of our QSTACK process technology. You will be working closely together with process, integration and device design functions to advance our capabilities and support the transfer towards waferscale manufacturing.

How a day might look like

  • Development of advanced patterning processes for colloidal quantum dot based image sensors using lithography and etching techniques.
  • Assess device performance, and correlate with process parameters.
  • Develop in-line metrology procedures and correlate end-of-line data to process parameters.
  • Design and execute design of experiments for device optimisation.
  • Gather specifications from internal customers and communicate requirements to other process module owners to deliver high-quality products and prototypes.
  • Report results to cross-functional teams for feedback and further requirements definition.
  • Work as needed with teams in design, process, equipment support, testing, and failure analysis to fully understand device performance and potential failure modes.
  • Contribute towards transfer to waferscale processes and process troubleshooting.
  • Drive to improve yield, streamline processes, and decrease cycle times.
  • Work with suppliers and industrial/academic collaborators on new material and process development.
  • File relevant patent applications.

About you

  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in lithography techniques.
  • In-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in material removal techniques such as reactive ion etching and ion beam milling.
  • Hands-on experience with metrology techniques such as SEM, ellipsometry and profilometry.
  • Understands semiconductor devices and process technology.
  • Experience in managing internal/external vendors.
  • Demonstrated history of innovation, problem-solving and failure analysis.
  • Experience in equipment acquisition.
  • Proven working knowledge of R&D to high-volume manufacturing process transfer and statistical process control (SPC) is a plus.
