DESCRIPTION
CQFoundry, part of Spain’s strategic PERTE Chip initiative, is an industrial R&D project led by qurv to develop scalable manufacturing processes for advanced image sensors based on colloidal quantum dots (CQD), fully compatible with standard CMOS technologies and 200 mm wafers.
The project addresses key challenges in the semiconductor value chain—such as process uniformity, defect control, and performance—by advancing CQD synthesis, deposition, and characterization methods, and by integrating these sensors into industrial-scale semiconductor production.
By enabling mass production of CQD sensors, CQFoundry will accelerate next-generation applications in computer vision, automotive, medical, and industrial imaging, strengthening Europe’s technological sovereignty in semiconductors and positioning qurv as a global leader in innovative sensing solutions for demanding environments.
